Useful Websites

Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh wesbite. If you are interested in becoming a Student Affiliate member of the College, please fill in and return the Registration Form (click here).

A great website covering lots of basics: pathophysiology, X-rays,etc . It also has a bit of history on some famous surgeons.

Not strictly educational, but funny none-the-less!

For a good dose of microbiology.

Website aimed specifically at UK Medical Students and Junior Doctors. There are tutorials and images covering chest X-rays, with pages on abdo and fractures under development. (website was recommended by Nick Morley, Radiology Registrar in his lecture to the Society. The lecture can be found on the lectures’ page)

Trauma website with illustrations and explanations of fracture management. Obviously this website is not intended for Undergraduates, but it will no doubt delight those with an interest in Orthopaedics, or those doing their Orthopaedic attachment (especially for case presentations).

Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network- For both detailed guidelines and quick reference guides on a whole range of topics.

We are very luck to be provided with suturing materials from our sponsors Covidien, which allows us to hold so many sessions. The following resources may prove helpful, before and after attending these tutorials:
